Garage Door Star

Leo Wellings knew Karma all too well. He had been living with his own punishment for ten years now. Everyday he contemplated the mistakes of his old life and accepted the consequences he was living with in his new life. Though, sometimes in his dreams he was still the man he used to be: dashing, charming, handsome rich, famous and incredibly envied.

Ten years ago, Leo Wellings was the most famous moving-picture director in all the three kingdoms and he was married to a gorgeous young starlett. Leo had come from very humble beginnings and risen to the top. He appeared on the directorial scene quite suddenly, as if from nowhere. One day no one had ever heard of him and then next, he was a worldwide sensation. Leo was always very private about his rise to success, and refused to discuss his life story with the press.

Leo grew up in a small house, without an automatic garage door opener. It was a single room with a tiny kitchen, two cots, a bathroom, and food on the table—enough to keep from feeling hungry but never enough to satisfy. His mother had a warm heart, kind eyes, and such a loud boisterous laugh that it would most likely frighten a gorilla if one happened to be nearby.

Leo’s father had run off when Leo was a born— for his father was afraid of the responsibility of raising a new life and he was also drawn to the comfort of younger women. Wise women know a lot but somehow they can never tell the difference between a stand-up guy and a chump. And so, they often end up alone with a pizza pocket. Leo’s mother, Charlotte, was left to work two jobs and care for her son on her own. Though she was exhausted when she returned from work late at night, she was never too tired to offer her son a smile, to read him a book, or to act in one of his plays. Leo had always dreamt of being a famous movie director and so he spent many hours while his mother was working, writing plays and scripts and stories
