Today is the Fourth of July, an all over the country people are taking off work and not going to school in order to get down and party! Barbecues are happening with roasted corn and hamburgers and hot dogs and cotton candy machines and lots and lots of popcorn- everything that is classic American-style treats. I know where I live we will be having a huge moon-bounce open to all, fair-like rides, movie-watching, and of course a huge display of fireworks for when the sun decides it's time to sink below the horizon.
Fourth of July is a time for people to sit outside sipping bud and iced tea and lemonade, for casual, lazy socializing in the sun, for eating watermelon an throwing water balloons and generally spending time in one's bathing suit. I really hope that everyone takes the time on this Independence Day to appreciate all of the prosperity and freedoms we enjoy in this country, and to take the time to cherish free time, good friends, good company, and delicious food. And hopefully nobody will set off any fireworks in an unsafe way, because that's just asking for trouble.
