Garage Door in the Forest

The forests of California are rich and dark, and there are a lot of garage doors that are insipired by this climate and this aesthetic. Sunset in a forest is the idea wer're going with for one of hte new styles of garage door, and it was inspired by this piece of writing:

The brilliant hues of the sunset arced across the glittering sky in a display of color that that seemed to seep into hiss heart. Framed by the leaves of the trees, the rich oranges, creamy yellows and gentle pinks reached out and soothed the soul. But of course all things must end, and the sunset turned to dusk, and dusk to night, and still Misao sat on the porch, deep in thought. The navy blue sky that looked so beautiful and rich was soon crushed by the black of night, dark and moonless.

The road was winding and hilly, strenuous at times. Beads of sweat ran down the young man’s face, and the sun beat down ferociously, scorching his back through his threadbare clothes. But then, a brook. Following the sound of babbling and gurgling, the youth climbed up the green mountain pass.

The trees smelled fresh and piney, like the outdoors. The dirt path was pebbly, and the young man’s shoes made that wonderful scratchy, crunching noise that makes you think of pleasant walks in the park.
When he came upon the stream, he launched himself into it without hesitation.

Garage Doors in California

Garage Door Desert

California has a very unique aesthetic, and there are some garage door models that look great on a sSouthern Californian homes that could never fly in a damper climate. Just, aesthetically speaking. There is a story about California desert gods, and we have named one of our new garage door designes after it: The Hollyhock and the Ram's Head. It goes like this:

Aoi knows there is no such thing as time for them. But Ramsey explains: there is time enough. For clouds and desert shadows to move. For the sun to meander and meet the horizon. For mountains to rise and fall.
“Come here.” Feet touch sand, grains against toes and ankle bones.
“I knew I could get a smile,” Ramsay says, takes Aoi’s hand. “Let’s race.” They dash across the Sonoran Desert and Death Valley, up the coast to the Bay.  They see goldminers and missions, huts and skyscrapers. A baseball diamond. Buffalo. Rivers and dried up rivers.
“I win.” Ramsay says.
It turns out, when they get there, that the bridge hasn’t been built yet. The Bay is beautiful, but alien somehow with the absence of its golden gate.
“We’re too early,” Aoi says, but over the wind he’s not sure that Ramsey can hear him. Or too late, he thinks.
In any case Ramsey ignores him, rolls up his pant legs and wades in. He looks back, sun in his dark curls, and says, “It’ll come. We just have to be patient.”
There is time. Enough time for water to soak the bottoms of rolled-up jeans, sea and salt weighing them down, sticking and chafing against soft skin. Time to sit together on a rock, not too close.
“How long do we have to—”
“Shh,” Ramsey whispers, scoots closer. He puts and arm around Aoi’s shoulder, and points. “Look.”
And like a rainbow, the bridge spans across the bay before their eyes.
“You’re really good at this whole thing. I’m newer,” Aoi says. Ramsey ignores him except to ruffle his hair.
“What’s your favorite kind of bird?” Ramsey says.
“What?” Aoi squints into the sun.
“Mine’s a sparrow. What’s yours?”
“I don’t know. I don’t really think about birds so often.”
“Maybe you should.”

Garage Door Repair Person

Reading reviews about garage door installations is very interesting. Some people have quite a lot to say on the matter, and others are more stoic. Some people give scathing remarks about their garage door repair person, and others are quite happy with their service. Here is an example of a "reply" a consumer made to her garage door repair person:

I feel somewhat interested, and somewhat overwhelmed with this. There is so much being thrown at me, and so much I do not yet understand, and such promise of finally getting to understand it. So that's exciting.

But at the same time, I wish you would cut me a break, you know? I'm your average consumer. I'm not clever enough to piece all the tiny clues together, you have to give me stronger hints! I don't know enough about garage doors to figure things out by myself, I need your guidance. Reveal things to me that will lead me to understand them in the way you want me to. Even stories that just toss their readers in the thick of things take care to introduce important concepts so that readers can understand them. There are just so many names that are flying over my head, and i know YOU have thought them out, that you know what everything is. It's insanely frustrating.

BUT. It has such a powerful ring of authenticity, of being a real myth, if that makes sense. The numbers you use (the seven cities, the usage of three days, three this, seven that). It has the cadence of a legend, and the final paragraph is wonderful. The Wounder and the HEaler.

It's just so, so dense. It's Tolkienesque in its resemblance of a history text, a scripture. It's incredibly rich, of course, but also. Kind of over the top for a review about garage doors, wouldn't you say?

Garage Door Crystal Bomber

Reports came in last week of an ingenious but terrible way someone has put a garage door opener to use. The suspect allegedly rigged some sort of chemical explosives to the mechanism such that when the owner of the house came home, and opened the door, the explosives went off. Now, it wasn't like in a movie, it wasn't enough to blow off half the garage and the house, but it was enough to concuss the homeowner. It was terrifying for the family, and no one knows why the perpetrator did it. There were rumors that the eldest son of the family ran with a bad crowd, but nobody knows for sure.
The actual rig itself depended on a double-backed remote trigger and some sort of jerry-rigged circuit closure.  And apparently the explosives were not c4 or something that is generally used as an explosive, historically, but was instead a phosphorized mercury compound that looked like a crystal. The explosive is not produced in bulk by any companies, it would have required someone with some pretty intense chemistry skills to pull it off, and to create the crystals. Plus, the crystals require kinetic energy (aka brute force) to activate.
Though the results are of course completely morbid and horrifying, you have to admit it's pretty high on the ingenuity scale, in terms of a way to kill someone. It seems like the kind of thing someone might do in an action flick, or on a TV show, not in real life. Why the elaborate rigging? Why the non-usual explosive type? Why such a complex system, yet an effect that did not actually kill the intended target? Investigators have no idea what was going on with this case but the mystery is certainly intriguing. It would take a crack team of crime-scene investigators and chemists to figure out what happened. Unfortunately, it took place in a small town and they just don't have the resources to find this crystal garage door arson.

There are a lot of things that homeowners can do to increase the resale value of their home. A lot of small things that aren't very expensive, but can earn you lots and lots of money on your house. Here's a short list of ideas.
1. The first step is to clean clean clean. If your home looks messy, there is no way buyers are going to be able to envision their lives in your home. They will only be thinking about how ugly and dank the place looks. Throw out all your old junk. Let's be honest. You can probably stand to lose almost half of all the junk you own. Then, go in and clean every surface in the house, and don't stop there.
2.You might want to consider the idea to re-gout all of the tiling in the bathrooms, which will make them look a lot fresher, and will make buyers think much better of the shower, the tub, etc. If the bathroom still looks kind of bad, you may want to repaint.
3. Another good tactic is to get good lighting for your rooms. It will make them look bright, airy and open, making the place seem a lot bigger than it would if you had dim lighting. Even a cheap Ikea lamp would be helpful. Darkness does not make someone feel welcome in a space, but bright space does.
4. And of course, repaint, repaint, repaint. Every room will look bigger and brighter with a fresh coat of warm-hued or supercool paint.
5. And most importantly, update your garage door. If you don't have an automatic opener, that is definitely something you will need to get. If you don't want to invest in a brand new garage door (like with some frosted windows, or a carriage-style opening), you can go ahead and get yourself a fresh coat of paint. Don't get too fancy with your colors, just use some nice beige, or white, or a good tan.
