So. You've never really put much in your garage- just your car, a small shelf of canned food, maybe some filtered water, pictures. You decide you want to put the space to better use. You live in Los Angeles, your car will do just fine out on the street. You don't need to stock up for winter.
Consider using the space for something besides storage. Something cooler than an at-home gym or small, windowless office. (Try getting a garage door with windows to fix that particular problem.) Maybe you want something a little more ambitious than an extra bedroom, or even better than a man-cave for sports and poker.
You want an at-home bar. You know you do.
So, build or buy a solid wood bar, line the space behind it with mirrors and glass shelves, and stock that place with whiskey, vodka, rum, gin, tequila, wine, and beer. Get a mini fridge to nudge under the bar, a space for ice, and if you have plumbing in the area, put in a sink for washing up and adding water. Get some nice cups, mugs, and wine glasses. Use that nice new fridge to store materials for garnishes- limes, lemons, an cherries to go on top. Put some milk in for White Russians (and get Kahlua) and some grenadine for cosmopolitans. A little sour mix can be used to whip up tasty whiskey sours at the drop of a hat.
Then, have friends over and play bartender! You can practice your skills, entertain your buddies, and you don't even need a liquor license because you're on private property and you're not selling anything. Plus, it's your house, your rules, so there's never a last call.
The best is combining a bar with drinking games, so invest in a dartboard, shuffleboard, or a simple pack of cards for kings or solo cups for beer pong.
