Millions around
the world are finding that the Tour de France has replaced their World Cup
viewing time and is changing how they work with their garage door. Watching
cycling leads a person to want to cycle. This means that instead of sitting in
the car with ample space for openers a person is dressed minimally and, if it
has been a while since the last ride, a little out of breath.
First a person
might find that an external number code opener is a good investment. The key
under the mat was fine a decade ago, but it is not always a good idea today.
Some riders find stashing a key in their sock works. The problem is that, if a
person is hot and sweaty then once they get in that front door, they go
straight to the refrigerator. Then they shower and forget all about their bike
abandoned in front of the garage door rather than safe inside it. Opening the
garage door and stashing it on the way inside is the safest and most efficient.
If the bike is
new, the next challenge will be finding a good place to put it. There is a wide
variety of wall mounted storage devices for bicycles. This could add a small
upper body component to a cardiovascular workout. If out of sight leads things
to being out of mind, leaving the bicycle in a highly visible area might be a
good idea. Right in front of the car may be a good idea, but that leaves the
possibility of scratching the front end. Remember to look at the amount of
space in the front and back to provide a good idea of how much space is
available. Along a side wall is idea for
being accessible, no corners to turn. Having anything next to a vehicle will
make anyone park a little further from that object. Keep more alert for the
next week or so while pulling in and out to ensure that no accidents occur.
Always take
advantage of these inspirations for exercise. Thinking outside the box can
allow this inspiration lead to a garage conversion. With a little time and a
lot of funding the garage could be converted into a workout room with a
stationary bike and perhaps some weights. If space is of concern a person can
push the equipment to the edge and leave the car outside while working out only
to bring it back in later. Ideas on where to store equipment so that it is
still accessible is a major reason people don't keep up with their regimens.
Some equipment stores will rent out equipment for trial use or provide a buy
back. The garage door can be left open for fresh air or closed for privacy.
Biking to a local
market for a forgotten item is also good for the environment. A person doesn't
have to have a basket off the front to shop, a simple backpack can provide
plenty of storage for the trip back. So now that the World Cup is almost to a
close store the soccer balls and follow the lead in the Tour de France,
shooting for a maillot jaune or at least a new gadget for the garage door.
