While most Californians cannot even imagine their lives without their cars, many people around the globe are trying to find solutions for the terrible traffic they face each day, and better ways to arrive at work.
Mumbai, India is trying to improve their chaotic traffic by building several elevated pedestrian walkways to unclogging their massive sidewalk congestion, they are called skywalks, made of concrete and steel, and it is expected to make pedestrians walking through the city easier in their booming metropolis.
The so-called "yellow caterpillars" should help them to cut down transport times for their residents during rush hours, they will connect many train stations in Mumbai, reliving the traffic on their streets below. They started constructing skywalks back in 2008 and is expected to have at least 36 skywalks ready soon.
Although the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development believes it is a cheap and quick way to improve pedestrians walking route to work, many people there disagree.
Architect Nitin Killawala says that it is ugly to look at them and he does not understand why they don't try to have pedestrian plazas to help them, it seems to work in many countries, why wouldn't it work in Mumbai.
Many residents are already very happy with their new skywalks and say that it made their lives much easier, now they can walk freely and enjoy the fresh air as well.
Although traffic in Los Angeles can be very bad, not many people would agree in walking to work or even consider switching to public transportation, they prefer to take their cars from their safe reliable garage and drive to work.
