When you're trying to choose what you want to do with all the space that's behind your garage door, you're faced with many exciting, frustrating possibilities, the likes of which have been flustering homeowners since the invention of the electric garage door opener, and its easy access. If you want to transform your garage into an actually room, one of the first steps is to decide what you're going to put in for flooring besides the concrete. That's pretty much the first step to making a room.
Hard-wood and laminate composites have always been highly popular, but there's a pretty good case for carpeting, as well. Carpets can look great and be cheaper, they keep your feet warm and help insulate a room, and they're great noise-reducers, to help mitigate the sometimes very startling sound of the garage door opener.
There's a lot going for carpeting, as well as the more traditional hard flooring, but it's also annoying if you have to clean up spills and messes. Then again, they're safer for rambunctious children's play. It really comes down to what you'll be using the garage for, how much money you're willing to spend, and whether or not your garage door is insulated.
